Circulation of City Council Petitions Jan. 27-Feb. 24

The City of Freeman will hold a joint election with the Freeman School District on Tuesday, April 11. Voting will take place at the Freeman Community Center on Wipf Street with polls open from 7 AM to 7 PM.

Those interested in circulating a petition to run for office may do so beginning on Friday, January 27. The deadline for presenting signed petitions to the finance officer at Freeman’s City Hall is 5 PM on Friday, February 24.

The following council seats are open due to expiring terms: of office: a 2-year council term in Ward I, a 2-year council term in Ward II; a 1-year council term in Ward III; & a 2-year council term in Ward III.

Councilors whose terms expire in 2023 are Clifford “Lonnie” Tjaden, Blaine Saarie, Elizabeth Waltner, & Tabitha Schoenwald. Those continuing in their current terms of office are Councilors Charles Gering & Steve “Charly” Waltner, as well as Mayor Michael Walter. The new council members will be sworn in & take office on Tuesday, May 2.
